This treatment may involve the use of either an unlicensed medicine or a licensed medicine prescribed outside of its approved use (known as “off-label”).

Based on your responses, one of our qualified prescribers has identified this as a potentially suitable option for you. In UK clinical practice, clinicians may recommend unlicensed or off-label treatments where, in their professional judgement, it is appropriate for an individual patient and suitable licensed alternatives are not available or appropriate.

All treatments are prescribed on a named-patient basis and will undergo a full clinical review by a qualified prescriber before being approved and dispensed.

– Minoxidil 2.5 mg
– Finasteride 1 mg
– Biotin 10 mg

The capsule shell contains microcrystalline cellulose and methylcellulose

This unlicensed treatment combines two well-established medications and is generally well tolerated. As with all medicines, some people may experience side effects.

The most commonly reported side effects are related to Finasteride and may include reduced libido, difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, or changes in ejaculation. These effects are uncommon and are often reversible on stopping treatment. Also side effects can include low or changes to mood, breast tenderness or enlargement, and skin rash. Finasteride can lower PSA in prostate screening, so please inform your doctor if undertaking any prostate investigations.

Minoxidil may occasionally cause headaches, dizziness, light-headedness, or an increased heart rate. In some cases, fluid retention can occur, leading to swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet.

Less commonly, some individuals may experience mood changes, including low mood, or breast tenderness or enlargement.

Rarely, more persistent sexual or mood-related side effects have been reported after stopping treatment.

Finasteride is not recommended when trying to conceive. As a precaution, it is advised to stop treatment at least 3 months before planning a pregnancy.

If you experience symptoms such as significant dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, swelling, breast changes, or low mood, you should stop treatment and seek medical advice promptly.

A clinician will review all your responses to determine if this treatment option is a good fit. If prescribed, please inform your regular GP of your treatment.
